Drafts

In the fall of 1933, Sinclair and Lloyd Lewis hired Hubert Gibson as a temporary secretary. Gibson lived temporarily with Sinclair Lewis at the Hotel Sherry in Chicago during the collaboration in Chicago, preparing draft after draft of Jayhawker (which was then called “The Skedaddler” and “The Glory Hole”). The authors allowed Gibson to keep the drafts, as well as a copy of the final manuscript from the collaboration in Chicago. Gibson and his family kept these drafts out of the public eye until 2007 when the materials were donated to the St. Cloud State University Archives.
